|BertizzoMan||Well both the shift knob and steering wheel is the dirtiest and bacteria prone due to it being the most touched items in the car. For OCD or germaphobs I would carry some leather or suede wipes to keep them clean. And a brush for suede objects to keep it plush.|

|Gildamayes||I noticed BMW uses suede in the M trademark accessories. Its a nice and comfortable material but the maintenance is just a pain in the butt. Leather is more durable and still offers that luxury look. the suede material especially for a shift know where it will constantly be touched needs a lot of attention.|

Do not think it is real suede. Just synthetic suede like fabric.

|Beemster||Is that suede I see on the seats or is it some other material. Sweet!!! I like the blue strip that they have in the interior as well. From what I read The 2 series interior will be the same as the current 1 series.|

|Status2s||Im sure its hard plastic underneath but the shift knob is wrapped in leather. It doesn't look the most attractive but the important thing is the ergonomics and feel of it that matters. How much different will the M shift knob look would be the better question.|

found some more bmw 2 series shifter pictures to help you guys out here. IMO the stock (M235i ?) shifter doesn't look that great, but good enough, I will be looking into getting a M2 shifter since M shifters always look better and have better materials.
