BMW 2 Series Coupe Caught Testing in Spy Photos

Two weeks ago, spy photos of the BMW 2 Series Convertible gave a glimpse at where the brand is moving its current 1 Series line. Now, there are also photos of the hard top version.

Part of the brandís plan to migrate its coupe and convertible 1 and 3 Series cars, BMW is shifting the 1 Series to a new naming structure. Once that happens, the 1 Series nameplate will switch from its current rear-wheel drive platform to share MINIís front-wheel drive system.

Expect the new 2 Series to move farther upmarket. If BMWís strategy with the X4 crossover is any indication, the 2 Series will likely be similar to the current 1 Series from a mechanical standpoint while taking on a more heavily stylized appearance. The photos here donít show much, but the headlights look smaller than the current 1 Series coupes.

The red color this 2 series has seems along the lines of what Melbourne Red Metallic would look like, but appears to be darker, maybe cause of the lighting at the time and the camera's settings.

Melbourne Red Metallic is what BMW will be using on the 2014 4 series, might be a good chance it will be on the 2 series and is what we see above.

I hope the new BMW 2-Series to move further upmarket. The 2-Series mostly same as the current 1-Series from a mechanical standpoint. The engine configuration is so powerful compare to SUV cars. The car is equipped with some new safety features which is plus point of this car.
