What do you mean?! Look at bmw right now there is an article out right now about the delay in the 2 series for it to make it official in production. If anything bmw pulled back just to fine tune what is has to be a better competitor in this entry luxury sedan segment.

bmw already displayed it's lack of confidence in the 2 series by saying it's going to play the waiting game, seeing how Mercedes Benz and Audi does with their CLA and A3.....if sales are good, then BMW will push the 2-series. Oh yeah this only for North America.

So if that's how BMW is now, what will be they be like when it comes time to offer up more upgrades and models under the 2-series badge?

I'm not sure if they are pulling back specifically to see the competition. The 2 series M had it down pretty well. If they just do the same thing again with an updated interior it would still compete heavily with the Mercedes and Audi.

CLA already has the BMW 2 series beat with price starting price of $29,900 is hard to beat. The 2013 320i starts just over $30k and with the way BMW prices it's vehicles I doubt there's any way it will go any lower than $30k. BMW will try to push for a starting price of $35,000 or close to it.

This is a new but highly competitive segment. I think the top two contenders will be the 2 series and the CLA. Hopefully bmw will pull out and surprise us with some more upgrades.

I loved the 1 series M. I have high hopes in the 2 series M to be in close competition with the CLa 45 AMG. it will be a tough battle, what? I think they both have similar power out puts but it will fall down to be which one handles the best.

How does the 1 series M compare to the upcoming CLA 45 AMG? Are they similar in specs and price?

Adding to this thread... here's a design comparison between the two. Seems like they follow the typical "german car design language" and do a good job at not copying eachother.

Unfortunately, it seems that the CLA 45 AMG is not without some growing pains:
