M2 likely to come to market.....did anyone really not see it coming?
Even from the start it was very obvious they would make an M model, especially with the M235i already being out.

Apparently the upcoming M2 will get a body-kit inspired by the track-only M235i Racing.

There should be carbon fiber to reduce weight and improve performance. The M2 should be powered by a twin-turbocharged variant of the 3.0-liter straight-six found in the M235i. Horsepower should be around 380. And price should be about $55,000.

they need to be exceptionally careful here. Even with the detuned M4 mill, allt he weight savings on the smaller 2 series will bring M4 and M2 P/W ratios right in line, not to mention the lower MSRP for M2, why would anyone go for an M4????

BMW M4, because BMW M2's are too mainstream

Sometimes you just want to show off how you're in a different tax bracket with a more expensive vehicle.

nah the gap won't even be that significant. Figure the 235i is priced at $43,100, the 435 is priced at $46,000 and the 435xi is priced at 48,000. Spending an extra couple thou (translate to extra $50 per month) is not a whole new tax bracket. They're going to be competing for the same clientele.

With those lower trims the difference isn't that much but with M models they're always priced much higher, it also seems like there will be a big difference in pricing from the M4 to M2.
